A peek into the past: The Jetsons

"Meet George Jetson. His boy Elroy.. Daughter Judy. Jane his wife."

Oh I  loved this movie! I don't recall whether or not I ever watched the series, but I wore this tape out. I was so fascinated with all of the futuristic utopia they lived in. I wanted to live just like them. Fall in love with a rock star like Judy and eat a tablet that tasted like an entire meal like George! I wanted a robot housekeeper and a talking dog like Astro. I used to always pretend I lived in Orbit City. On more than one occasion I was scolded for eating butter tablets at restaurants. Haha. I would unwrap it, put it on my tongue, and swallow it whole just like George Jetson. Then I would tell everyone what my "meal" tasted like. Such a good movie and I have so many great memories tied to it. I still have an old VHS copy but I think it's time to invest in a DVD copy for my Zane. Here are some pictures and interesting facts about the movie. Enjoy!

Judy Jetson's voice was done by Janet Waldo in the series and she had also recorded for the movie, but then executives decided to replace her with pop star, Tiffany, in hope of attracting a younger audience.

The voices of George Jetson and Mr. Spacely were done by George O'Hanlan and Mel Blanc who both passed away during the production of the film. The film was dedicated to them.

Robert Rodriguez  has said that he has been working on a live-action remake of The Jetsons for awhile now and it is rumored to come out in 2012. As far as I've been able to find, there has not been any details mentioned about the plot or casting. I'm anxious to find out more! I'll be thrilled to take Z to see it!

A peek into the past. Part 1

Every morning we when Zane and I wake up, he eats breakfast and then we snuggle up and watch cartoons for a little bit. Usually I'm in control but now that he's almost 18 months, he's starting to have a mind of his own. Rather than Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Zane decided that he would like to watch Secret Agent Oso "pwease". How can a mommy say no to that? Haha. So I left Oso on. Now there's really nothing wrong with the show, I just think it's boring. So as we sit here and watch a stuffed bear figure out things like choosing whether to wear flip flops, slippers. or boots in the snow, I'm reminiscing on my favorite shows from my childhood. Here's a peek inside my mind this morning.
 Fraggle Rock
I'm still a big fan of this show. Zane and I watch it often on Netflix. The reason I love this show can be summed up with the lyrics to the theme song, "Dance your cares away, worry's for another day. Let the music play, down at Fraggle Rock!"

 Inspector Gadget
I loved going on exciting adventures with the clumsy Inspector Gadget. Who didn't love this show? I can still clearly hear Doctor Claw threatening, "I'll get you Inspector Gadget....next time!"
Bobby's World
Such good memories of this one. Anyone who has ever seen it can recall Bobby's active imagination that made his typical suburban life full of adventure. And of course we all remember his mother's heavy accent, "don't cha know!"

More to come, Zane's ready to play now. :)

Super Bowl Sunday!

So after watching the Super Bowl tonight (Great Job Packers!) I started trying to think of any great commercials I loved in the 90s. Unfortunately I couldn't recall any but I found this great video compilation and it brought back the memories! Enjoy! Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Hope everyone had a blasty blast!

Oops! Don't do it again!

Today I was reminiscing about the good ol' days when Britney Spears was my fashion role model and it was an unspoken decision that pleather pants was an apprpriate fashion trend for middle school girls! I wish I could find a picture of my sister or I wearing our pleather pants! I remember when I JUST HAD  to have a pair. Mine were a horrid t red and my sisters were a snake skin print. It was quite possibly my worst fashion choice as a youngster, but boy did I love those pants.

Oy vey! At least I didn't shave my head bald!

Pop Qwiz! What'll pop up next?

So Brett and I are having a little movie marathon tonight and I was thinking about popping some popcorn while he made some tea. And then I randomly thought of Pop Qwiz popcorn! Who else remembers this fun food from the early 90's?? I wonder why they stopped making it? Guess it must not have sold well, but I sure did love it, or maybe I just love the memory of it! What other foods do you remember from the 90's that they don't make anymore?

This is a fun one!

Ok, so this post is going to be short and sweet. I just found this old game that I used to love to play on Sega. The name of the game is, Cool Spot. And in it you play the red spot from the 7Up logo. I would love to play it right now. I'm definitely going to have to track down a Sega console and purchase a copy! Does anyone else remember this game?? If not, I know you've got to have a favorite game from Sega, what is it? I used to also love to play Aladdin, X-men, and of course SONIC!

I hope everyone is having a great Friday night!

"It is the most scrumdiddlyumptious story.”

Does anyone else remember this sensational read by Roald Dahl??

"I is the only nice and jumbly Giant in Giant Country. I is the Big Friendly Giant. I is The BFG!"

This is what The BFG says to the little orphan girl, Sophie, after plucking her from her bedroom window and taking her to his home in Giant country. He also explains to Sophie that he collects good dreams in Dream Country and at the "witching hour" he goes through the streets and blows these good dreams into the windows of children.

This book was a reading assignment in 5th grade and still remains one of my favorites until this day. I love this story of The BFG and Sophie's adventures together. The BFG has an awful time with grammar and often misuses words. I've snagged some of his more humorous words and phrases for personal use and when the moment is right I giddily pull one out!

I HOPE that some of you have had the pleasure of reading this funny, and heartfelt tale. If so please share your favorite part of the book or your favorite word or phrase used by The BFG. :) I would say that the word that I still use most often would be "disgusterous". I highly recommend The BFG to anyone who hasn't read it and suggest reading it to your children or any youngsters in your life. I hope to get some feedback and discussions going on this post, so don't be shy!
I almost forgot to mention that there was also a movie made from the book that I thoroughly enjoyed as well. But I'm one to always choose the book over the movie adaption but if reading isn't your thing you can check out the movie!
